Algoma District School Board plays a part in
the Healthy Kids Community Challenge

three-year project organized with the City of Sault Ste. Marie, Algoma Public
Health and the Algoma Leadership Table which promotes healthy eating, physical activity and healthy lifestyles choices for children. The City of Sault Ste. Marie, along
with 45 communities in Ontario, has been selected to take part in the challenge
and ADSB is one of several community partners, including health, recreation and
local business, who will work together to implement community-based programs
that support healthy habits among local children and their families.
Algoma District School Board is supporting the promotion of events and
is encouraging student volunteers to become involved to accumulate volunteer
hours. This initiative ties in perfectly
with our strategic priority of Well-being which includes a focus on physical
activity, well-being and building strong character.
A pick-up ball hockey event with the Soo Greyhounds hockey team kicked off the local Challenge where kids 12 and
under enjoyed 5 minute rotating games of ball hockey for the duration of the two-hour event.
