Boreal French Immersion Public School, located in the centre of Sault Ste. Marie, serves approximately 320 students from grade 2 to 8. The school community is comprised of a diverse population coming from our sister school F.H. Clergue French Immersion School. In September of 2018, both Boreal and Francis H. Clergue will operate with Kindergarten to Grade 8 students based on the McNabb Street Boundary.
While a small number of students walk to school, most are bussed. Beginning in grade 6, students receive French instruction for half the day and English instruction the other half resulting in a gradual increase in English programming. In grade 6, students complete EQAO testing in Reading, Writing and Mathematics for the first time in English.
Boreal French Immersion Public School strives to ensure an inclusive and equitable school climate where all students, parents, and other members of the school are welcomed and respected. Every student is supported and inspired to succeed in a culture of high expectations for learning French as a Second Language.
Our website contains information about the school, an on-going calendar of school events and happenings, copies of the monthly newsletters and calendars and a variety of resource information.
