Learn At Home

(Ministry of Education) To fight the spread of COVID-19, Ontario public schools will remain closed for the remainder of the school year.
(Algoma District School Board) During these unprecedented times, we are all managing as best we can and we will work together to support our children in the days ahead. ADSB has developed resources for families to support student WELL-BEING, ENGAGEMENT and ACHIEVEMENT and to further develop our confident learners, as we collectively commit to staying home to protect ourselves, each other and our communities, as caring citizens.

Well-Being Resources
ADSB has partnered with the YMCA who have launched YMCA Gym Class, an online platform for educators to deliver virtual physical education programming to their students as a part of their school’s e-learning platform.

YMCA Gym Class is instructed by a YMCA certified fitness coach and features content based on YMCA Canada's Health & Fitness programs and Canada's Physical Activity Guidelines. With activities designed to complement physical education course curriculum, the YMCA has made this resource available for schools to use for free. There are also a number of crafts and activities for children that Teachers and Parents might find helpful.

For older students the classes that are on YHome and/or YThrive might be enjoyable and more suitable.  Gym Y extends the reach to French Immersion and Francophone school communities. See the Gym Y (French) link below.
