On October 22, 2019, about 125 Algoma District School Board students took part in the second annual Access to Justice event organized by the Access to Justice Committee and held at the Sault Ste. Marie Courthouse.
Grades 7 and 8 students from Ben R. McMullin, H.M. Robbins, Pinewood and R.M. Moore Public Schools spent the afternoon at the event. They took part in a variety of activities, designed to introduce them to the justice system, the court system, and the inner workings at the court house. The students took part in mock trials and information sessions led by judges and lawyers who provided an overview of their roles in the legal system and the many different factors that must be considered for any given case or ruling.
