lgoma District School Board provides every student / teacher with Microsoft Office at school / home at no cost

(February 2015) In support of the Algoma District School Board’s vision to engage learners in innovative experiences that maximize achievement, we are very pleased to announce our agreement with Microsoft to bring Office 365 and Office 365 ProPlus Benefit to all students and teachers of the Algoma District School Board (ADSB).  This offering will further enhance opportunities for students to utilize technology in purposeful, responsible and innovative ways to support their learning.

Microsoft Office 365 is a web-based version of the traditional Microsoft Office suite of applications. Algoma District School Board students and teachers have access to Office 365 through the cloud and includes a suite of Office Web Apps including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and Outlook.  Students and teachers also have access to 1TB (terabyte) of OneDrive cloud storage allowing them to save, update and share files from anywhere and work on Office documents with others at the same time. Access to Office 365 will enable students to get their school work done virtually at any time and from anywhere.

In addition to Office 365, Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus Benefit allows Algoma District School Board students (Grade 1 to 12) and all teachers to download and install the full version of Office 2013 on up to five personal / home PCs / Macs, and also install Office apps on other mobile devices including Windows tablets and iPads.  All students and teachers have access to Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus Benefit at no cost.  These Microsoft Office installations remain licensed as long as they remain a member of our organization. Microsoft Office installed through the ProPlus benefit includes: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, OneNote, Publisher, and Access.

We are focused on preparing our students for success in a collaborative, engaging, dynamic, technology-intensive and increasingly connected world, thus ADSB is responding to these changes by supporting students and teachers. By investing in Microsoft Office 365 and Office 365 ProPlus Benefit, we are equipping our learners with tools to support the knowledge and skill development needed in today’s rapidly changing, technology-driven, world.
