​Sault Community Theatre Centre

pic1The Sault Community Theatre Centre, located at White Pines Collegiate and Vocational School, has hosted theatrical, dance, vocal, instrumental and comedic performances for decades. The theatre has showcased local acts including productions by the Algoma Conservatory of Music, the Sault Symphony Orchestra and the Musical Comedy Guild, as well as national and international celebrities including Ziggy Marley, Randy Bachman, Andrea Martin, Rick Mercer, Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the Canadian Tenors and Stuart McClain and the Vinyl Cafe.

Recently refurbished, the theatre includes a main floor and two galleries with a total of 907 seats, as well pic7as space for 10 wheelchairs. The theatre also boasts one of the largest inventories of props and costumes in Ontario which are loaned to theatre groups and non-profit organizations for a user-fee. The collection includes costumes from every period and a large collection of props, including vintage items.
 
The theatre offers modern technical components, including a rigging system with 24 line sets with a 1500 capacity each, a state-of-the-art acoustical shell, as well as two chorus dressing rooms with capacity for 20 persons each and two principal dressing rooms with capacity for four persons each. The stage itself is 15 feet high with a width of 40 feet and a floor suitable for dance productions. The theatre is supported by provincial organizations including the Ontario Arts Council and Ontario Trillium Foundation, as well as the City of Sault Ste. Marie, Station Mall, and the Algoma District School Board.
